Adopt-A-House - Sponsoring a Habitat House
What is a sponsor?
A sponsor is an organization, congregation, business or group which commits to fund a house and provide the labor needed to build the home. This is called our "Adopt-A-House" Program.

Who can be a sponsor?
Anyone can be a sponsor. We have had churches and coalitions of churches, businesses, corporations, schools, service groups, and individual families become sponsors.

What if we can raise only part of the sponsoring amount?
Habitat will coordinate your organizations efforts with others to provide the funds and labor needed to build a house. If volunteers are needed for labor, Habitat will provide them from our dedicated volunteer base.

How many people does it take to construct a home? When does the work take place? How long will it take?
It generally takes 4 to 6 months and up to 200 people to complete a Habitat house. Most construction takes place on Saturdays unless the group can supply a crew leader(s) during the week.

Why should my organization sponsor a home?
Thousands of families in our community live in inadequate shelter. Your organization can do something about this reality. This powerful hands-on ministry gives individuals an opportunity to act out their faith. You will work side by side with the partner family on their home, other partner families and volunteers from other groups. Your organization will be united, perhaps as never before, by this giving ministry. The team building that happens as groups join together to help eliminate substandard housing is unequaled by any other experience.
