Habitat for Humanity
Mission Trip June 2008
Ecuador
(June 14 to June 28) Guayaquil the
largest city in Ecuador, is a seaport that handles over half of the country's
imports and exports. Over 38% of its 14 million people live in poverty, and it
is estimated that 800,000 to 1.2 million families lack adequate housing. An
optional excursion, after the completion of the mission, will be to the
Galapagos Islands.
Volunteers
expect to dig and move dirt, move blocks, dig septic tanks, bend rebar, mix
concrete, pour concrete, lay block, etc. under the supervision of a local
foreman. The teams appreciate your prayers and support for their work and
safety.
This team is led by St. Thomas More Newman members Susi Havens-Bezaire
and Dave Bezaire. Susi and Dave have over 18 years of Habitat experience in
Columbus, and have led previous Global Village missions to Ghana, Mexico,
Thailand, the Dominican Republic and Guatemala.
