ReStore Volunteer Relations VISTA member

Service week:              Tuesday-Friday: 9:00am-5:30pm, Saturday: 8:00am-4:30pm, some evenings

Position objective: To assist HFHGC with improving volunteer relations in Habitat?s ReStore

List the specific duties and responsibilities for this position:

·         Develop and maintain database of past, present and potential volunteers

·         Represent ReStore at monthly Volunteer Orientation and recruit volunteers; this also may include volunteer fairs or short speaking engagements

·         Set up system for coordinating and tracking volunteers for donation pick-up service, deconstruction projects, and store workers

·         Create retention practices for sustaining volunteers

·         Improve and grow volunteer base for deconstruction program

·         Coordinate volunteer appreciation

·         Assist ReStore staff in daily operations as needed

Education, Experience, Knowledge & Skills:

·         Must possess Bachelor degree or 3 years of related volunteer/job experience

·         Must have program management and leadership experience

·         Must have excellent organizational and time management skills and able to multitask

·         Must possess good public speaking and interpersonal skills

·         Must be  computer proficient in Microsoft Office, including: Word, Excel and email correspondence and able to learn affiliate database and volunteer online recruiting system

·         Must be flexible and able to adapt to changes

·         Must be able to work independently and be a self-starter

·         Must like working in a group dynamic, and have a personality that enjoys meeting lots of new people of all ages

·         Must enjoy working with people in a variety of contexts

·         Must possess good work ethic

·         Must possess driver?s license and good driving record

·         Good working knowledge of most construction materials a plus

Physical Requirements to Perform Duties:

·         Must be able to lift 40lbs

·         Must be able to function in warehouse/office/store setting

·         Must be able to able to attend meetings and functions outside of Habitat office

·         Must be able to give and receive detailed information through verbal communication

·         Must be able to sit for extended periods of time at a desk or computer

·         Must be able or willing to learn how to drive box truck

·         Must be able to function in periods of cold and heat and handle short periods of above normal stress

·         Must be able to be exposed to various construction-related substances such as sawdust, paint, sun exposure etc.
