Construction Operations VISTA member

Service week:              Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm, some evenings 

Position Objective:   To assist HFHGC with improving general infrastructure and operations of the Construction department as it continues to increase production.

List the specific duties and responsibilities for this position:

  • Create and maintain usable database of volunteer leaders and their availability
  • Establish method to schedule, record, track, and update warranty and walk-through requests
  • Improve site folders system to ensure proper paperwork is included
  • Develop pre-construction packets for Construction leaders to ensure all leaders are following HFHGC current building methods and have house plans
  • Coordinate system to better use construction support volunteers
  • Assist with how department uses Microsoft Project Manager to track projects
  • Assist in construction department in fulfilling duties as needed on and off site

Education, Experience, Knowledge & Skills:

·           Must possess Bachelor degree or 3 years of related volunteer/job experience

·           Must have program management and leadership experience

·           Must have strong organizational and time management skills

·           Must be detail-oriented, self-starter and able to work independently

·           Must be Computer proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, email correspondence and willing to learn Project Manager

·           Must be flexible and able to adapt to changes

·           Must possess driver?s license and good driving record

·           Must like working in a group dynamic, and have a personality that enjoys meeting lots of new people of all ages

·           Must have good interpersonal skills and able to work with people one-on-one or in a group setting

·           Construction knowledge/experience a plus

 

 Physical Requirements to Perform Duties:

·         Must be able to lift 30lbs.

·         Must be able to function in warehouse/office  setting

·         Must be able to able to attend meetings and functions outside of Habitat office

·         Must be able to give and receive detailed information through verbal communication

·         Must be able to sit for extended periods of time at a desk or computer

·         Must be able to function in periods of cold and heat and handle short periods of above normal stress

·         Must be able to be exposed to various construction-related substances such as sawdust, paint, sun exposure etc.
